For Caregivers...
Not all of our patients can
administer
their own home infusion therapy alone. Some can, but most
need the assistance of a family member, friend, neighbor or
health care professional to make sure they receive the
medication and that it is administered properly. Whenever
a caregiver is involved in therapy, our clinical staff spends
time with and educates them on the procedure involved, as well
as proper storage of the medication, side effects, and anything
else they may need to know about the therapy.
The procedure is demonstrated by a clinician and the caregiver is then asked to return the demonstration by following all of the required steps. Written instructions are part of the teaching materials given during this educational session. We make sure that the caregiver is capable of managing the therapy before we turn them loose to follow the procedure at home.
Also, our clinical staff is available 7 days a week, 24 hours a
day to answer any questions or to problem solve
any
situation. If a nursing visit is required, our nurse will
either meet the patient at our Bend office or see them at home
depending on what the situation is and where the patient is
located in relation to our nurse. If you have a difficult
medication profile and would like a consultation, please call
us, e-mail us or send the patient's medication list by fax to
us at 541-385-6260 and we can do a drug utilization review for
you at no cost to you or your patient.
We are truly a resource for the caregivers that help make home infusion a success! It takes a team effort to make the most of home infusion and part of that team is YOU - the caregiver!
