The Administrative staff of HomeCare IV
completes the solutions
team. Billing, inventory, delivery and clinical support
work together with nurses, pharmacists and pharmacy
technicians.
Medical Claims: Our Claims Department has
one of the most challenging jobs in the healthcare
industry. Home infusion billing and coding
is complex. Claims are paid
differently by public and
private payers and claims procedures and requirements are
in constant flux. Public payment mechanisms haven’t kept
pace with the private sector and, at present, Medicare does not
pay for
many home infusion therapies. Both public and private payers
require documentation such as plans of care, doctors' orders,
and nurses notes before sending payment. Home infusion claims
take longer to be paid than any other sector of
healthcare.
Our
dedicated team of experts know the system well and can answer
your questions about coverage and payment. For a partial
list of insurance companies we participate with, see our
Partners page.
.
Purchasing and Delivery: Each home infusion
patient requires a different combination of supplies. While
pharmacists and pharmacist technicians prepare medications,
supplies are being picked and packed by trained technicians and
packaging is being
prepared for the medications. Supplies may
include infusion pumps, IV poles, sterile dressing supplies,
tubing, IV catheter care kits, patient education materials, and
other equipment, depending on the individual needs of the
patient and his or her therapy.
Our purchasing technician coordinates with the clinical staff to meet the challenges of 'just-in-time' inventory management. This method of inventory control enhances our cost-effectiveness and insures current supplies.
