Safe and clinically effective...
Home antibiotic infusion therapy means patients no longer require hospitalization for treatment of infections that do not respond to oral antibiotics.
HomeCare I.V. of Bend, Inc uses infusion pumps (a device that moves fluid into the body under pressure) to administer physician prescribed intravenous antibiotics. The most commonly used pump for antibiotics infusion therapy are small, electonic pumps about the size of a pocket radio.
These pumps can be programmed to provide the specific dosage,
rate and infusion period your doctor decides is most
effective. Once programmed, the pumps start and stop on
the prescribed schedule without intervention by the
patient
or caregiver.
When appropriate, antibiotic infusions may be provided
using a baseball-sized disposable pump. These pumps are
filled in our sterile clean room and delivered to the
patient. Each pump infuses the prescribed medication over
a specified time period. When the infusion is complete,
the pump is disconnected and thrown away. At the next
scheduled
infusion
time, a new pump is attached and started.
Our nurses provide necessary training to the patient and/or caregiver in operating these relatively simple pumps, in safety precautions and sterile care procedures, and provide support twenty-four hours a day, seven days a week. Clinical Pharmacists follow the patient's progress using lab and other reports and coordinate care with the patient's physician.
HomeCare I.V. of Bend, Inc. has earned the Joint Commission's Gold Seal of Approval™.
